It was quite some time ago, now that i found out about this second piece of important info, in fact it was around the time i heard about ICE numbers.

It drives (no pun intended) me crazy to be behind a car with some stupid warning sign like ‘Baby on Board’ hanging down from it’s roof. What’s worse are those that also mention something about driving carefully. Is someone really suggesting that because they have a baby or small child in their car that i change my driving habits?

Anyway, i found out that the real reason for these types of signs are to alert emergency services of the presence of babies and small children in the event of an accident. A very good idea, so really i can’t justify feeling angry when i see these signs now. Though, there is no need for it to be hanging down the back, as long as it’s visible to anyone who might be checking your car after an accident. However, there is one other problem, if they are not removed when there is ‘No baby on board’ this could end up wasting the time of emergency services.

So my message is: I promise not to be annoyed by seeing such a sign as long as users promise to remove them when there is no young child on board.

I put this up on the till where i work and while most people have enjoyed it there was one woman who told me she thought it was very offensive. I don’t see how it is offensive. The way i saw it it was using the image of Jesus on the cross to promote a Christian based charity. How many times does the image of Jesus on the cross get used for the promotion of anything to do with Christianity? An awful lot i would say. So what’s the difference?

I believe the East Anglian Ambulance Service started a campaign to get people to add ICE (In Case of Emergency) numbers into their mobile phones. the idea being they know who to call first ICE. You can add as many numbers as you want by putting ICE1, ICE2 etc.

However, this may confuse some mobiles, with the result of no caller id being displayed when one of your ICE numbers calls. Though, it seems newer phones, like mine (a year old), do still display the correct caller id.
